UPDATE - March 2010
*Latest* Our system suppliers, Synetrix, have spent the past fortnight attempting to resolve the replication problem which has been negating effective use of the ‘read’ tick boxes in LA Communications. On more than one occasion it was thought a resolution had been reached, only for the system to fall down again in testing. We have, therefore, taken the decision to ‘roll back’ the system to where it was before any of the recent enhancements (listed here) were initiated and when it was working without any known bugs. While sharing your frustration, we also apologise for any inconvenience and thank those schools who initially got in touch to alert us to the problem. As yet there is no date for the enhancement’s reintroduction but we will keep you informed of progress. In the meantime please continue to use the system as before – the ‘roll back’ (effective from 11 March 2010) is limited to functionality only so no documents will have been lost. Notification of any problems with the system should, as ever, be logged with the Schools Service Desk on 0115 854 6116 (updated 10 March 2010).
Wired user id and password requests
The tool used for requesting and re-setting user ids and passwords is back up and running. However, it will take us a few days to get used to the new system and to catch up with the backlog of access requests so please bear with us. Our apologies in advance for any inconvenience this may cause.
We now have a folder in which we'll be posting hints and tips on using Wired as well as updating you on our progress in making further improvements to the system. The latest posting concerns the updates and improvements which are slated for release. You can find out more here (updated 12 January 2009).
How to obtain a password and log-in
The department’s intranet service for schools - Wired - has moved web platforms and can now be accessed by clicking the 'sign in' button at the the top of this page. Non-school staff who are regular users of Wired should have received their new password and user id by email. If you have not or are a new user then please complete the form at https://apps.nottscc.info/WebApps/WiredUsers/Default.aspx . Please note, this form is for requests from non school-based staff only.
School-based staff requiring access
School-based staff who know their OWA user ID and password can use them to sign in. Otherwise, please use the generic user ID and password combination that has already been set up for your school. This can be found at http://www.nottinghamshire.embc.org.uk/index.php?q=node/1975 .
The ICT schools service desk have already started work on ensuring that all school based adults have their own unique user ID and password. If they have not been in touch yet please be patient, there are many users in many schools!
Placing a document on Wired
Staff requesting documentation to be placed on Wired will need to complete a proforma, an updated version of which is now available to download. As part of our efforts to improve the service for schools, documentation will now only be accepted for uploading on to Wired if accompanied by a fully completed proforma.
